“How China escaped shock therapy-The Market Reform Debate” by Isabella M. Weber

In a first session, we will introduce the book by looking at the history of shock therapies and why China’s case stands out. Then, we will look at the role of prices in an economy and discuss different theories of prices.

A second session will take place two weeks later, giving you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the book and further explore the materials discussed.

Everybody is invited – no prior knowledge of the book or the topic is needed. The bases will be covered during our first meeting.
